Diets fail. You know this, I know this, yet there is still a huge amount of people dieting, restricting, forcing themselves to eat foods they don’t like, avoiding things they love in an effort to change their bodies - whether for health, for looks or both. Yet, most people fail. Because restricting doesn’t work and isn’t sustainable. Because the moment you think, this is only for a little while, then you’re on a diet and it won’t stick because it’s not a lifestyle change and it’s not something you want or can keep going because it doesn’t work for YOU.
Our goal is to make the world of health and nutrition more palatable and keep it real because we don’t want you to fail. We want you to be informed, educated and able to make decisions based on YOUR body and your reality to create and curate a life that you love and nourishes your body and soul.
If you’ve been in the wellness industry for a while, you know that the amount of protocols, guidelines and rules out there are endless and contradict each other in many ways because they each work for a different person. There are however, a few things most experts and science agree with and here are our three top tips to get you going that we believe have a very large impact on your health for very little effort:
Drink water. Seriously, you’re probably not drinking enough. Drinking enough water consistently will radically improve your health in so many ways: better, clearer skin, increased digestive function, etc. We can’t say this enough - if you do literally nothing else for your health, just do this.
Eat protein at every meal. Especially women, we tend to eat less protein than we need for fear of “bulking up”. This will not happen! Eating enough protein will help you stay satiated until your next meal, it will balance out your hormones, and keep your body functioning at optimal levels. Try to aim for about 30 grams of protein per meal but don’t overthink it, just make sure that whenever you are eating - whether a full meal or a snack, you have some protein as part of your meal. We personally prefer animal sources because they are easier and have the complete proteins you need but you do you boo!
Sleep. Up until recently, nobody paid much attention to sleep but we have come to the knowledge that adequate sleep helps with soooo much! It will help your liver function properly, glow your skin, recuperate from the day, balance your hormones, help your muscles recover, alleviate mental health issues like anxiety or depression. Yes, sleep is that important. But adequate sleep is crucial, aim for 8-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep, a dark room and cool, about 66 degrees is optimal. I know you’re thinking that this may be impossible for you because of kids, insomnia, etc. but even going to bed 15-30 minutes earlier will help
There you have it, if you want to improve your health, these are our 3 top tips that take little effort but have HUGE impact.
